Leeds Castle

Treasured property of the crown

Built just after the Norman Conquest in 1066 the castle remained a treasured property of the crown until 1552. The castle of Leeds was fortified, enriched and cherished by kings and their queens from Edward I and Eleanor of Castille, to Henry V and Catherine de Valois, through to Henry VII and his first queen Catherine of Aragon.

Lady Olive Baillie

From mid 16th century, the Castle of Leeds was owned privately until the 20th century. Having purchased the Castle of Leeds in 1926, Lady Olive Baillie spent more of her life restoring the castle to make it a home and a place of hospitality.
Leeds Castle is an experience like no other. Breathe in the woodland scents and share meandering paths with the occasional peacock or enjoy the formal gardens in all their splendour.
